Posted on Feb 8 2012 - 10:41pm

The Atlanta Area Council has introduced the Camp Card program for 2012. This fundraising program allows scouts to generate funds in preparation for Summer Camp and relieves pressure for units to conduct fundraising activities. Ensure that every Scouts has the opportunity to earn their way to camp! Register today: www.atlantabsa.org/campcards

The one-time snap off discounts on the front card will more than cover the cost. And the year-round discounts offered on the back make the sale of this card a no-brainer!

Secured sponsors:

Publix - $5 off $50 purchase (one-time use)

North Atlanta Pinewood Derby

Posted on Jan 30 2012 - 9:48am

Akelas,

Pack 232 at NW Presbyterian are proud to announce that we will be hosting the 2012 North Atlanta District Pinewood Derby Finals on March 17th at the Scout Hut for Troop 232.  All North Atlanta District Packs are invited to submit their Pinewood winners to participate in the District Finals.

The submission format this year will be 1 car per Rank, per Pack adding up to a maximum of 4 cars per Pack.  We would like to provide the greatest opportunity for as many Cubs as possible to enter they winning entries to the District final.  The timetable for race day will be as follows: -

·         10.30am               Inspection and Registration of Pinewood car

·         12.00pm               District Finals start

·         1pm-1.30pm      Prize Giving and Completion of District Pinewood Derby.

A 6 Lane track will be used for the Pinewood Derby and the format of the race will be that each car will be raced 6 times, once in each lane of the track and the winner being determined as being the car with the fastest overall time.

What we would like from you at your earliest convenience is a list of Cubs representing your Pack.  This would include Pack, Rank and Name of Cub.  If the Cub has a name for his car, that would be welcome.

Please ask your pack to come to support their fellow Cubs in the District Final.

Attached are the District Pinewood Derby Rules that all cars will need to comply with for the District Final.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact myself.

We have 16 packs in the North Atlanta District, so let us have a great turnout for this final.

Yours in Scouting,

Allan Bartleywood

Scouting for Food

Posted on Jan 9 2012 - 5:16pm

Scouting for Food (SFF) is a twenty-five year old annual service project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement. It draws on several aspects of Scouting: Scout Oath (help other people at all times), Scout Law (helpful), and Scout Slogan (do a good turn daily).

Scouting for Food is at the core of what it means to be a Scout.

First, a big THANK YOU! to all those units that participated in the last two years. However, the NA District is one of the largest in the Council and yet we have been at the bottom of participation/production per scout for both years.

Please hear the call for support this year. Let’s have the NA District lead the way by significantly increasing our participation from previous years.  As the Girl Scouts are known for their cookie sale, the Boy Scouts want to be known for our food collection.  Please click here to register your unit today, Thank you.

For more information on Scouting for Food (SFF) from the Council please click here.

Doug Samuels
